Google Adds Magnifying Glass to Search Results

by jmejia on November 10, 2010

Google adds a preview pane that is eerily smilary to Bing. Monkey See, Monkey Do? I think so, at least this time around.

If the use of the little magnifying glass becomes prevalent, it will mean that it will be more important than ever to rank in the top 3 positions. But my guess is that this is just a test and Google will not leave it there for ever (at least not in its current form), as Paid Ads (Pos 4+) are covered, meaning people would have to click on something else other than paid ads = less money for big G.

"let me lay a little schoolin' on ya"?

Beginning the answer to a sincere question with a comment that may sound condescending is more likely to put off viewers.  The effect is magnified by leaning back in the chair, which creates perceived distance.  The combination does not look very inspiring to first-time viewers.
